SaaS – Software as a Service – The new Industry Norm

The current pandemic has had many adverse effects on Economy and on the way people do business. But on the brighter side, COVID has acted as a catalyst in the equation of Digitalization. Digitalization has become a business principle these days. Every business in every sector has been digitalized to some extent. But to prevent the economic shakedown that was caused by the pandemic, every business should adopt digital technology into tier day to day business processes.

SaaS as everyone knows it is one such option. Software As A Service is a way of delivering services over the internet. There is no requirement of any hardware or a complex installation process. All the data will be stored on cloud/ on the vendor’s server and it can be accesses from anywhere using the internet. The classic example to understand this process is a Bank. The Bank provides similar services to all its customers and also protects the customer’s privacy. Bank uses the same system and technology to caters to all its customers while protecting individuals privacy.

Users and Application share a single common infrastructure that is centrally maintained (Multitalent Architecture). The application can be customised with point and click ease(Consumer focused). After the pandemic many businesses have lost a lot of revenue. SaaS will be an ideal solution for such businesses to go digitally. Businesses can opt for monthly, quarterly or yearly subscriptions when adopting SaaS solutions. SaaS solutions are easy to setup. There is no extensive requirement of hardware nor there is a complex installation process. Maintenance and updates are vendors responsibility. Data replication and data redundancy( infrastructure and scalability are available at very economical options. SaaS are usually hardware independent, they can be used on any device as long as it is connected to internet.

In the case of an extraordinary circumstance, such as the COVID19 outbreak, we have all been pushed out of our comfort zones like never before. Travel restrictions and lockown rules have severely limited the possibilities for collaboration among colleagues, partners,and agencies. Yet, we still have jobs to do! News articles need to be published and brands must continue advertising, keeping their communications and products visible to the public. For many businesses, this has caused serious problems with staff unable to access the tools and resources they need to get on with their jobs.

As Software Companies we must concentrate on developing and supplying solutions fortthese problems at an affordable cost so that many businesses will turn towards
digitalization which is a primary requirement to sustain in Industry 4.0. This might also kickstart a new revolution which may give way to more innovations and a streamlined economy.
